Mr. Mohamed Farid Pasha bin Mr. Saad Eddin Al Yafi (1861 – 1926 AD)
He was born in Damascus in 1861 AD. He was appointed as Director of Beirut Police then worked as Director of the Land Registry (Real Estate Services) in Damascus.
He was granted the title of Pasha by the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid and was appointed as a Director of the Islamic Endowments in Damascus and a member of the State Shura Council in Damascus.
He has four wives, one of whom is Aisha bint Abu Al-Nasr Al-Khatib.
His children are Rushdi, Lutfi, Mohamed Muzaffar, Muzayyan, Latifa, Khadija, and Fatima. He died in Damascus in 1926 and was buried there.
In their book, *History of Damascus Scholars in the Fourteenth Century AH*, Muhammad Muti’ al-Hafiz and Nizar Abaza document that Muhammad Farid Pasha’s relationship with the governor of Damascus, Jamal Pasha, was strained. Jamal Pasha did not conceal his suspicions about the subject of this biography and his connection to Arab nationalist rebels. Farid Pasha searched the home of Muhibb al-Din al-Khatib, as Turkish authorities had become aware of his subversive activities. Given their familial ties, Farid Pasha warned Muhibb al-Din al-Khatib that he was under surveillance and instructed him to conceal and destroy any banned Arabic and diaspora publications and magazines.
